My Review about it!

Halloween red velvet cookie with cream cheese frosting and a mug of tea next to an open pink Crumbl box

Trick-or-treat night runs on a simple system: the doorbell rings, you hand out candy, you sit back down. Somewhere around the fortieth ring I stopped reaching for the candy bowl and started reaching for this cookie instead. The jack-o’-lantern had company.

It cost me $4.49, which is less than the bag of candy I was giving away for free — a fact I chose not to examine. Served warm, it held up surprisingly well to being eaten in ninety-second intervals between doorbell rings, cooling on the porch step without going stiff.

The first bite is why red velvet works at all: soft and cocoa-kissed without tipping into full chocolate, and the vanilla cream cheese frosting brings the cool tang red velvet always needs. The spooky red drizzle is pure theatre — it changes the look, not the flavor — but on Halloween, theatre is half the point.

By the last group of trick-or-treaters the cookie was gone and the candy bowl was not, which settles the household ranking. At 730 calories it is a commitment for one person on a porch, but split between two candy distributors it is exactly right. Warm is non-negotiable — the frosting goes on cool, the cookie stays soft.

What I liked

  • Proper cocoa-and-tang red velvet balance
  • Stays soft while it cools between bites
  • The red drizzle sells the Halloween brief

What I didn’t

  • 730 calories is a lot for porch duty
  • Drizzle is decoration only
  • Best warm — it loses the magic cold

Compared with the Halloween Sprinkle Cake Cookie: that one is a chilled funfetti party — soft cake crumb, cream cheese frosting, a full coat of sprinkles — while the red velvet is its warmer, moodier sibling. Sprinkle Cake crunches; Red Velvet leans in. Pick by temperature as much as flavor.

Red velvet has always been a little theatrical, and this one finally stopped pretending otherwise. Served warm, the cookie is soft, rich, and cocoa-kissed without wandering into full chocolate territory. The vanilla cream cheese frosting brings the cool tang red velvet desperately needs, and the blood-red drizzle gives the whole thing just enough Halloween menace without changing what already works. It’s familiar in the best way: warm cake-cookie texture, cold cream cheese frosting, a little cocoa, a little tang — basically comfort food dressed for a l mystery. 9.6/10 — looks like the dessert table has an alibi, but I wouldn’t trust it.
