My Review about it!

Crumbl Cookie Dough Cake Cookie with a bite taken, in a pink Crumbl box on a car seat

It was a slow Tuesday when I finally gave in and ordered the Cookie Dough Cake Cookie from Crumbl. It had been sitting on this week’s menu teasing me for days, and I kept telling myself I’d get the Twix one instead. Cookie dough won.

I got it through the store and paid $4.49. By the time I sat down and opened the box, the warm brown sugar and butter fragrance hit me first. The cookie itself is thick and golden, with a generous swoop of pale cookie dough buttercream on top, studded with little cookie dough pieces and extra mini chips.

The first bite is where it won me over. The base is a soft, buttery brown sugar cookie — chewy at the edges, tender in the middle — loaded with mini semi-sweet chips that go melty when warm. The buttercream genuinely tastes like cookie dough, sweet and buttery with that raw-dough flavor (fully baked and safe, of course), and the dough pieces on top add a fun chewy contrast. It leans fully into dessert, with none of the tang you’d get from a cream cheese frosting.

About halfway through, though, I hit the wall. It’s a rich, sweet cookie, and the buttercream is generous. I finished it and needed milk — I’d suggest you do the same. It’s also best warm, since the buttercream firms up as it cools and the chips lose their melt.

What I liked

  • Cookie dough buttercream that actually tastes like dough
  • Warm, buttery brown sugar base
  • Melty mini chips in every bite

What I didn’t

  • Very sweet — richer than it looks
  • Loses its charm once it cools
  • No official calorie count published yet, so trackers beware

Compared with the classic Chocolate Chip: the classic is simpler — just a great cookie. This one is the maximalist dessert version, with frosting and dough pieces piled on. See how they stack up in the comparison table below.
